LAS VEGAS (NV) January 10, 2002. We have had many requests to have a better photo of Uniden's new BC785D APCO digital trunking scanner. You will find larger and hopefully better quality photos now. The First photo gives a better view of the front on this new 1000 channel scanner. The Second photo has a close up of the back showing where the APCO digital card will fit into the radio. Hopefully these two pictures will shed light on how the card and scanner will function.

Maxon has introduced its TruTalk FRS base station with weather monitor. The TruTalk TK514 base station operates on FRS (Family Radio Service) frequencies to provide multi-function operation. A base-to-radio communicator, the unit permits two-way conversation with handheld FRS radios within a 2-mile range.

When the weather is changing, or you want to receive local forecasts, use the TK514 to receive information direct from the National Weather Service.

The unit also performs with other TK514's as a room-to-room intercom system, throughout a home or office environment. The versitile TK514 can be placed on a desktop, counter or easily mounted for use.

Features include 14 channels with 38 "Private Talk" codes, compatabile with all FRS radios, no license required, receives one or more of 10 weather channels (7 NOAA and 3 International marine), choice of voice (VOX) or push-to-talk operation and a multi-function backlit LCD.

Also from Maxon comes the MURS-25 two-way radio. MURS stands for Multi User Radio Service and operates on licensee-free VHF frequencies, and offers more than double the power and talking range of FRS (Family Radio Service) radios. The MURS-25 is a 5 channel, 2 watt unit which also features built-in NOAA weather radio frequencies. The radio comes with a rechargeable 750 mAh NiMH battery which provides up to 8 hours of service. Other features include a locking accessory connector, built in repeater capability, durable die-cast aluminum chassis, polycarbonate case, automatic squelch function, power saver mode, audible alert tones for low battery and time-out timer functions and much more.

For anyone who enjoys singing or has dreamed of singing in front of an audience, but hasn't had the tools (or the courage), those dreams are closer to reality than ever before

Encore Compack Karaoke - the ultimate entertainment system - has arrived! Offering exciting new technology, this affordable, lightweight portable karaoke system has full karoke functions embedded inside the mic without the hassle of a conventional system and no CDs! Simply plug it into any TV set with Audio/Video inputs to enjoy full-scale karaoke at home, the graphics and lyrics appear on your TV screen.

The Encore Compact Karoke is the size of a television remote but is actually a microphone with over 250 pre-programmed songs digitized in a computer chip inside the microphone, covering virtually every type of music. There's country, pop, rock, hip hop, rap, holiday songs, traditional and children's songs, greatest hits from the 50's, 60's 70's 80's and 90's, as well as the latest hits from today, all in the style of your favorite artists. Additional cartridges with even more songs are available or you can select your favorite songs to download from the internet

Finally from U.S. Robotics comes a cable modem which is guaranteed to speed up your internet access. Key benefits of the modem is that it is always on so you are always connected. The modem features superior internet performance, for entertainment, business and more. It doesn't matter if you've got a Macintosh, Windows-based PC, or a Sun Workstation - if your computer has an Ethernet interface, you can hook up a U.S. Robotics Cable modem. There's even USP support for Windows 98SE/Me/2000/XP.

Tomorrow, January 11th, is the last day for the 2002 Winter Consumer Electronics show. Stay tuned. We will have one more report for you.
